Snow Leopard Project 4

Here's what the Snow Leopard diorama looks like so far. It's not quite finished yet. Everything is stuck to pieces of foam board. So I still need to mount that on a wooden board for stability. And I will need to cover up the sides so you can't see the ugly inner construction. So the project continues.

Pelican Skeleton 1

We started working on a Pelican Skeleton cut-out project this week. We wanted it to look a little vintage. Like Cabinet of Curiosities, which is also something we're working on. I just wanted to show where we're at with this project. It's looking pretty awesome. This one is mostly done by Dan. He's so good at drawing animals.
The background of the shadowbox is painted black to show off the skeleton design. We've also been watching a BBC documentary 'Secrets of Bones' and discovering interesting facts everyday.

Brooch Experiment 3

If you remember my brooch experiment (see here, and here), you will remember how they looked when I first applied Mod Podge Dimensional Magic to turn paper into plastic-like brooches.
During the first week, it looked awesome. Every brooch I made was clear and level and nothing bled. But after a few weeks, it started to turn cloudy and yellow.
The flat cutouts in the photograph are the original prints. So you can compare how they look before and after the Mod Podge application.
Needless to say I am somewhat disappointed with the result. I will not be using the Mod Podge product again.

Snow Leopard Project 3

The current Photoshop file for this project is almost 1GB big. And look at how many layers I have in there! I am afraid to open the file in case my medieval computer explodes. But at least I'm almost done with it. I just have to set it up to cut out all the shapes with Silhouette. I swear, I would've finished this whole diorama by now if I had just done it all old school with paint brushes and scissors.

Oh by the way, this is my snow leopard illustration diorama project.

Snow Leopard Project 2

Here's a quick mock up of the snow leopard diorama. There are a lot of layers for this project, and it doesn't make it any easier working digitally with 1000 layers on my caveman machine.
At this point I'm still trying to figure out the size and shape of the base in order to hold the weight of everything else. This may take a while.

Snow Leopard Project

This is another project I've been meaning to work on for a long long time. It started really slow because I was trying to find the right medium to work with. I've finally decided to make it into a diorama. Here's a sneak peek at the cub sketch.
I will be posting more pictures of it as I slowly tackle the project.

Sickness

After Disneyland, Dan got really sick. And then a week later, I got really sick. It's been very quiet and boring 2 weeks.
I got so bored one day that I made a gif animation of a duckling cutouts. Observe!

Back From Disneyland!

Dan's parents had paid for our family trip to Disneyland, so we went away to The Happiest Place on Earth for a week. And it was AWESOME! Everyday was different and eventful. Dan and I were out walking around for at least 12 hours every day. But once we came back, we couldn't stop sleeping. I am still recovering from all the excitement.

That should explain the recent lull on all of our online pages. Hopefully from tomorrow, I will get back to work and start producing more awesome things.
