Froggies in Onion Soup

A few months had passed. The uncoloured drawing of the froggies was left in the dusty corner of the drawing room. The townspeople had stopped asking the old woman about the drawing. "'Tis not the time!", she would hiss at curious peasants.
But one day, a very handsome biologist from the woods as far as North America came to visit. He was not riding a white horse, and his hair didn't smell of gold and honey. But he had a smile that melted the old woman's heart. "I have been hearing about this unfinished drawing of your froggies", he spoke softly like a nervous bird. "I have come to see this famous drawing in person". Before the creaky muscles in the old woman's body could react, the handsome biologist moved swiftly toward the drawing, and unveiled it from layers of dust.
"!!!!"
"...."
There was a silence. And then there were gasps. The uncoloured drawing of the froggies was indeed coloured.
"But... but... what... who...?" The old woman was suddenly lost for words. "If you didn't paint this, then who did?", one by one, the townspeople gathered around asking questions that could not be answered. The handsome biologist studied the drawing room, and discovered a dusty black pad laying on the ground. "What on earth is this?", his soft voice asked, turning slowly at the old woman. The woman took a few moments staring at the dusty pad blankly. Little by little, the blank expression on her face blossomed into a knowing smile. "It's "the tablet"!", she laughed. "The magical "the tablet" must've finished the painting for me!" Then she danced, and danced, and danced some more. And the whole town rejoiced along with her, celebrating the magical powers of "the tablet" she had sorely missed.

The biologist smiled, and turned to head back to alert his town of this wonderful news. It was truly the happiest happy ending of all.

Bailey and Rowlf Make Music

Took a day to obtain some motivation, and instead of relaxing we (as in, myself and Dan) finished the colour job on our new collaboration. It took hardly any hours, and surprisingly, putting it together was relatively easy (compared to our MI collar).
We're very happy with how it turned out.
We have a few more celebrity-muppet pairs to do for this particular project, so I'm looking forward to working on them. Next up - Peter Boyle and Sam Eagle!

On a totally different note, the new movie Inception is totally awesome.

Brit Comedy meets Muppets

So my partner and I have decided to do another small collaboration.
We were watching Black Books a while ago and talked about how Bill Bailey resembled Rowlf from the Muppets.
And since he's good at drawing animals, he got Rowlf, and I have Bill Bailey to work on.

This was my concept. I haven't drawn in a while, so I am totally out of practice!

Busy Busy in America

Haven't had any time for personal projects as my main job and other things (like, my life) have been getting in the way.

However I managed to do the placement cards for my good friend Nat's wedding.
Here are some photos I took. First of all, some concepts:

Everyone did a tremendous job making this happen, and look how beautiful it turned out!
Leaving the states in a month, so hopefully I'll do more travel blogging before I leave, and maybe one drawing at least!

Froggies Revisited

Many years ago (3 human years ago), an old woman decided to go back to university and study Graphic Design. Everyone around told her she must DRAW for a living, so she majored in Illustration. During the second year in her degree, she took a class that taught her magical tricks of Digital Painting. They used a mysterious tool called "the tablet!". One day, the wise teacher asked the students to each go and work on their digital paintings. "But you must only use the wondrous powers of "the tablet", which you may borrow from the dungeon", screamed the wise teacher.
That night, the old woman had a dream about 2 talking frogs bathing in a cup of tea. "Nice and warm on a cold winter's night", one of the frogs confessed to the old woman. When she woke, she KNEW what her painting was going to be. It was but the frogs in their warm, bubbly cup of tea!
So she grabbed the magic "the tablet" and drew, and drew, and drew some more. When it was finished, she was pleased she captured the wilderness of the frogs. But the magic "the tablet" was too much of a modern tool for the old woman. The lines she drew were wobbly, and the painting job disappointed her. "I know I can do better than this!", she said to herself in the reflection of the computer.
And many years after that (after 3 human years), she found an old pencil that she used to use before "the tablet" days. And she drew, and drew, and drew some more. When it was finished, she was very pleased.
She had suddenly remembered, that it wasn't a cup of tea the frogs were bathing in. It was a cup of French onion soup! "It all makes sense now!", cried the old woman. Then she danced, and danced, and danced some more. And the whole town rejoiced along with her to celebrate the magical powers of the pencil she had sorely missed.

The next day, one of her servants asked, "ma'am, will this drawing be coloured?" The old woman did not answer. For she did not know whether it would ever be coloured or not. The magical pencil had nothing but a black lead. Days went past, and the old woman fell into despair and lost all hope. For who could ever learn to paint the froggies?

Dancing Girls in Colour

Finally completed the watercolour paintings of the dancing girls.
I'm quite happy with how the green girl turned out.
Think these pieces look good for an experiment.

The idea came from my habit of dancing around whenever I'm doing the chores.
And I thought it'd be quite cool to do somewhat pin-up-ish paintings of silly women.

Here's the pencil drawing in panorama!

Dancing girls sketches

Finally started another project.
Using watercolours to paint these in individually and then combine them at the end

Couple's Dilemma

Just another concept I had going around at the back of my head for a few years.
I thought it would be funny show any couple's dilemma in the most uncomfortable environment - GYM.
Just so nobody gets offended, I am making fun of both genders in this drawing.
I don't like to single anyone out.
I will refrain from explaining too much about this drawing and let the viewers get the joke on their own (believe me, it's more fun that way... for me)
OH one thing I would like to point out however is the woman's quote.
"OH I KNOW!" is from one of my favourite shoes, Fawlty Towers.

And of course, the sketch

And the work in progress
